3Dswipe VR for Proteor
3Dswipe’s Virtual Reality serving the healthcare industry
Proteor, major player in the design and production of orthopedic equipment, launches a brand new 3Dswipe application in Virtual Reality (VR) at the ISPO convention in Lille Grand Palais on the 17th and 18th of November.
“Immersive Xperience”: designed to offer an innovative immersive experience at Proteor’s booth and to draw visitors in to discover the brand’s new product range.

full 360° immersion
Developed and optimized for the HTC Vive, the Virtual Reality (VR) application can easily be adapted for other headsets available on the market (Oculus Rift, Sony, Microsoft, etc.). The user has complete freedom of movement inside a zone of a few feet. The controller enables a wide range of interactions and its automatic spatial sensing system allows to virtually recreate human movements and recreate complex actions based on body dynamics (throwing, aiming, selecting, drawing, hitting, swiping, etc.).
3Dswipe VR for Proteor immerses the user at the heart of a futuristic workshop, inspired from Pixar’s Vice Versa, hanging at the top of a geostationary station and in which the user can interact with the brand’s product range.
While wearing the VR headset and holding the controller, the user experience is truly immersive: full 360° view, virtual environment discovery, movement and product physics and dynamics management, sound effects…, everything is specifically designed to create a captivating and immersive experience.
Embedded real-time 3D configuration system
The application is an actual real time 3D configuration system with which the user can customize his selected product using the controller linked to the VR headset. Once the user is immersed in Proteor’s futuristic workshop, his mission is to configure in real time a series of orthopedic corsets. On his left is shelved a wide range of designs and on his right the available series of auto-gripping straps.
Using the controller, the user can grab the corset and handle it from every angle just as if he had it in his own hands, and thus test out multiple configuration possibilities.
Client testimonial: “It was a real pleasure working with 3Dswipe!”
“They were able to apply our comments and propose new solutions with great responsiveness throughout the development process of the application.
The users’ feedback on this immersive experience is excellent. We drew tons of attention and got the buzz going on the ISPO orthopedic tradeshow.
This first project bodes very well for new collaborations in 2017.”

Immersive and playful experience
So as to emphasize the configuration’s playfulness, the user is offered to first aim with the controller at the desired design in order to select it, and then throw it, with a wide arm movement, at the targeted corset for the design to be applied.
The application has been specifically developed for a user-friendly experience, while ensuring full immersion: gravity management, object interactions, etc. A “beginner mode” has been implemented in order to make it even simpler for VR-rookies: the aiming curve is displayed which makes the throw simple for everyone.
Business goals: tradeshow buzz and lead management
Besides the interactive, immersive and playful approach, the VR application meets various key objectives:
- Drawing visitors to the booth by offering an innovative experience with a disruptive technology for a professional use
- Saving user configurations for statistical and marketing purposes
- Saving user contacts for post-tradeshow lead generation and management
After the tradeshow, the immersive experience will be available at various Proteor shops spread around France in order to facilitate young patients’ acceptation of the orthopedic equipments. Enabling them to customize their own corset in an interactive and playful way offers a drastically new approach.
Users will also be able to continue the immersive experience online, including from mobile devices, with the real-time 3D plugin-free web adaptation of the VR application. Later on, the application will also be deployed for professional use (any device: PC, tablet, Cardboard, etc.).
The Proteor VR application only shows the tip of the wide-range of possibilities offered by Virtual Reality.
- Real-time 3D configuration
- Virtual tours
- Serious Games
- Augmented Reality
- Product presentation
Comments from tradeshow visitors:
“We are fully immersed!”
“We can actually feel when the platform goes down!”
“This thing is amazing!”
